Our first and best response to COVID has been to "Go Home Stay Home".
Housing affordability cannot be achieved without building a new affordable Tiny transportable first step on the housing ladder. We have been working since 2016 with Government, industry and landowners, to address land use issues preventing Tiny transportable homes from being included in the housing market.
A Temporary Land Use proposal"Tiny Homes coming ready or not" was submitted by one of the organizers - Julie Jacobson- first to Central Government in March 2020 and then - having been told Central Government was expecting Councils to come up with solutions, she submitted the proposal to Tasman DIstrct Council's LTP plan - including Mayor Tim King - in June 2020.
As the COVID Pandemic revealed the true extent of housing insecurity in NZ, Julie made a further submission to TDC in November 2020 entitled "Urgent Action Housing Initiative" Our Goalis to stem our homegrown humanitarian crisis, by empowering the human enterprise that has created the Tiny Home concept and can create homes affordable to all Kiwis, anywhere they are needed.
